Change is in the air. No, it’s not the official beginning of summer here in the states. It is at the core of business operations, and much of the revolution at hand is software defined. Stealing the spotlight of this evolution is SD-WAN, as this burgeoning technology offers the flexibility, scalability and connectivity desired in a modern enterprise at a pocket friendly price.

In a recent announcement, NTT Communications (News - Alert) unveiled its global SD-WAN offering, which touts a 100 percent software defined network to support the delivery of SD-WAN services. The software-defined architecture is backed by more than 75 local cloud centers (LCC) that locally distribute services.

“Digital transformation is at the heart of every modern enterprise today, fundamentally changing companies’ business models,” exclaimed Mr. Shuichi Sasakura, Senior Vice President Network Services of NTT Com. “The global NTT SD-WAN Service Portfolio is an end-to-end solution that provides organizations with a highly flexible and agile network that is fully tailored to their specific requirements and enables them to better compete in today’s digital economy.”

With NTT SD-WAN, end users gain impressive insight into network performance as a result of real time streaming analytics. CIOs and IT teams now possess visibility into application performance, end user experience and network security. In addition, the NTT SD-WAN platform provides for the delivery of services from customer branch office by way of on premises equipment.

“CIOs are increasingly interested in software defined networking technology. NTT DATA is a frontrunner in offering innovative solutions and is looking forward to helping clients take advantage of NTT’s SD-WAN Service Portfolio,” says Marv Mouchawar, President, Strategic Business Units, NTT DATA, an NTT Group Company.

The NTT SD-WAN portfolio is robust, including real time network analytics, enterprise connectivity flexibility, enhanced quality of service, customer premises equipment flexibility, secure Web gateways and application acceleration, in addition to optimized local ISP selection and routing.

Digital transformation is at hand. Those willing to plunge into the fore of innovation by deploying future first software defined solutions set up nicely to reap the spoils of this era, while others simply reap what they sow. Only time will tell where this journey takes us, but don’t dawdle with your first step.

When will your WAN be software defined?
